Corporate volunteering

An opportunity for corporate groups to lend a helping hand. A great team building exercise and a good chance to get the team out of the office!

Team building in nature

Get stuck in and experience the hands-on mahi (show English translation) (noun) work, job, function; (verb) to work, do that helps keep Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne thriving.

Corporate volunteering is a chance for your team to step out of the office, roll up their sleeves, and make a real difference for nature, all while enjoying the wellbeing benefits of being surrounded by birdsong, fresh air, and the ngahere (show English translation) (noun) bush, forest . Whether you join us for a full day or a half day, you’ll be guided by one of our expert Rangers, who will share their knowledge about the sanctuary and the impact of the work your team is doing.

The work is varied, rewarding, and often surprisingly fun. On any given day you might be:

  • rebuilding a track to keep our pathways safe and accessible
  • moving, raking, and compacting materials to maintain trails
  • repairing handrails, bridges, and boardwalks
  • cleaning nest boxes that support endangered native birds
  • restoring biosecurity trap boxes to keep predators out
  • caring for research area fences
  • freshening up signs throughout the valley
  • trimming vegetation along tracks.

We also run special projects such as painting, garden maintenance, or building wash-downs; essential work that ensures our facilities remain welcoming and that the sanctuary continues to operate smoothly as a charitable organisation.

All tools are provided, and your team will be fully supported with safety briefings and equipment to make sure the day runs safely and smoothly.

These sessions are free of charge, and we also offer optional lunch packages for purchase.

Corporate member organisations enjoy priority access to booking these popular volunteering sessions.
