Winter hours

The days are closing in and the weather has become an even more extreme version of four seasons in one day which means winter is coming! In preparation for those early dark winter nights, we are moving to winter hours on Thursday, 1 May until Sunday, 31 August 2025. 

What does this mean? 

• The valley will be open from 9am until 4:30pm daily;

• The last entry to the valley will be 4pm;

• Rātā Café will continue to close at 4pm; and

• The Visitor Centre will close at 5pm. 

Our duty ops team may need to close Valley View more regularly due to the danger of falling pinecones and branches on windy days or after periods of heavy rain. We understand it’s disappointing when tracks are closed but we only do so when absolutely necessary to keep our community safe.
