Trustee Changes
Welcomes and Farewells
Karori Sanctuary Trust has welcomed Pete Monk on to the Trust Board. Pete brings to the Trust a wide range of skills and experience from his career in the commercial and community sectors.
Pete Monk has a particular focus on tourism-related marketing. He served two terms on the board of Positively Wellington Tourism and was Head of Marketing for Interislander. Other diverse roles have ranged from General Manager of Fly Buys to Chief Executive in IT and manufacturing ventures.
Pete resides in the Wairarapa and currently manages Ata Rangi, a Martinborough vineyard, in tandem with his own photography business specialising in landscapes and nature. He is also chairman of Toast Martinborough, and treasurer of Featherston Booktown Trust.
Pete has an active interest in nature and conservation. He contributed in the past as a transitional manager at ZEALANDIA, holds life membership of Wingspan Birds of Prey Trust, and is involved in a voluntary capacity with other conservation organisations and initiatives.
He replaces long standing trustee Pam Fuller, whose dedicated service was recognised with a Karori Sanctuary Trust honorary membership at her board farewell in July.
Pam served on the Karori Sanctuary Trust Board from 2012, although her involvement with the sanctuary goes back to 1993. A Foundation Member of Karori Sanctuary Trust, Pam brought to the Board a wealth of knowledge about the history and people behind ZEALANDIA.
Pam will remain an active volunteer and part of the sanctuary whanau and is often seen with a smile on her face, sharing her passion for native plants. Volunteers and Members will be happy to hear that she will continue to volunteer with the Monday Walking Group and Volunteer Veterans Group.
