We need your help

Make a difference and donate today. Tiaki taiao, tiaki tangata.

Amid the pandemic and politics, Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne continues to transform Wellington, caring for translocated species and breathing life into our forests and skies.

Wildlife hasn’t noticed an upheaval over the last two years, but our main source of income has. Zealandia relies on visitation to fund our conservation work, but with people staying at home, visitation is low.

Your help will support us as we continue to offer native species a safe space to thrive and ensure birdsong continues to reach into the suburbs.

Zealandia is more than a destination, more than a place to see amazing native wildlife - - it’s the heart of a movement. Your donation will help conserve and protect nature. It will go towards supplementary food and nest boxes for threatened species like hihi/stitchbird, maintaining the fence, weeding and planting, and translocating rare and threatened species to the sanctuary.

The impact of your donation is far-reaching - conserving nature improves the lives of all people, animals and the environment.

Last year alone we delivered more than 12,000 education programmes, removed exotic perch from the lower reservoir to make space for native freshwater fish, and saw more than 100 titipounamu/rifleman fledge. Now, because of Zealandia, titipounamu are nesting around Wellington city for the first time in more than 100 years!

Our influence is echoing out across Wellington, creating a city with seriously impressive biodiversity and supporting communities to care for nature at home. Hearing the calls of kākā, the song of the tūī and the playful chattering of the pīwakawaka in our reserves and backyards is now a core part of Wellington’s identity. You can be part of the reason Zealandia continues to make a difference now and 500 years into the future.

Make a difference and donate today. Tiaki taiao, tiaki tangata.
