Exposure to nature reduces sick leave and boosts memory, productivity, and mental well-being.

Research1 shows a direct correlation between nature exposure and improved cognitive function, brain activity, blood pressure, mental health, physical activity, and sleep quality. In fact, a Wellington specific study2 showed that levels of depression, anxiety and stress were significantly lower in participants who spent more time across their week in public nature spaces.

By joining Zealandia’s Staff Wellness Membership programme, you will be providing a sustainable and socially responsible option within your suite of well-being initiatives.

This appeals to employees who value a sense of purpose behind their daily tasks. Millennials and Gen X workers, driven by values and environmental concerns, seek employers who empower them to make a difference1.

Feelings of social cohesion and mental wellbeing improve when people take actions for nature including financial contributions, volunteering and physical actions such as planting or backyard trapping2. Investing in programmes that foster a connection to nature can increase employees’ participation in activities that contribute to conservation efforts, nurturing their sense of purpose and community engagement3.

A corporate membership package not only contributes to Zealandia’s conservation efforts but also facilitates your staff in deepening their connection to nature.

Zealandia supporters have helped bring the birds back to Wellington. Our nature rich capital is one of the only cities in the world where bird biodiversity is increasing.

Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne has always been, and will always be, for conservation, not profit.  Managed by Karori Sanctuary Trust, Zealandia is a not-for-profit community-led Charitable Trust.   Zealandia is a ground-breaking conservation project and is home to some of the most rare and extraordinary wildlife in Aotearoa - all thriving wild in this protected sanctuary. With our world-first 8.6km predator exclusion fence keeping introduced mammalian predators out, birds such as the tūī, kākā and kererū, once extremely rare in the region, are all now common sights around central Wellington. Other vulnerable native species such as tīeke, little spotted kiwi, and tuatara remain thriving safely in the sanctuary.

Corporate membership not only contributes to our extraordinary 500-year vision to restore the valley’s forest and freshwater ecosystems, but also supports conservation research across Aotearoa New Zealand, and internationally. The success of Zealandia in blending conservation with urban living has inspired similar projects around the world, proving that large-scale ecological restoration projects can be achieved near densely populated areas.

Help us to continue educating and inspiring future generations, driving innovation in conservation, and connecting our communities with nature.
