Wellington On a Plate is back, and Rātā Café is putting flavour, sustainability, and inclusivity front and centre with its new plant-based creation: It Ve-gan With a Vision.

This burger isn’t just vegan, it’s also gluten-free, dairy-free, and packed with flavour without tasting like a compromise. Whether you’re navigating allergies or just curious about a more sustainable way to eat, this one hits the mark.

What’s in it?

• A golden, crispy vegetable patty made with potato, kūmara, pumpkin, carrot, and parsnip

• Rocket, crispy kale, and romesco sauce

• Housemade gluten-free bun

• Served with root veg crisps on the side, plus whipped vegan feta dip

But this burger isn’t just about what's on the plate. It’s a nod to the vision behind Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne: a world-first ecosanctuary in the heart of Wellington and a bold idea from the 1990s to restore a valley and rewild a city.

The ingredients reflect that story: local, thoughtful, and rooted in care for the planet. The burger is named in honour of that kaupapa, celebrating a future where flavour doesn’t cost the earth.
