New Zealand has almost no dangerous creepy-crawlies, so you can enjoy a relaxing walk through our forest.

Open the doors to our ‘wētā hotels’ to see the fearsome Wellington tree wētā, and venture into the old gold mine to see long-legged cave wētā. You may even be lucky enough to see the endangered giant wētā – one of the biggest and heaviest insects in the world! It’s quite friendly and mostly active at night. On a night tour our glow-worms are so bright you probably won’t even need your torch.

Invertebrates are fascinating creatures and a key part of our ecosystem. Just a handful are shown below. Have you heard about the “walking worm”, peripatus?
