Zealandia is one of the best places in New Zealand to see native birds in the wild. With a keen eye and the help of our Ranger Guides you can spot lots of New Zealand’s rarest birds living free in their natural environment. Around 56 different bird species have been recorded at Zealandia, 40 of them native and 24 of these endemic – found only in New Zealand!
Come and see the highly intelligent kākā (bush parrot), the critically threatened takahē, the busy saddleback, the bright hihi, the tuneful tūī, many more, and, at night time, the iconic little spotted kiwi. For a full list see bird-watching at Zealandia.
