Bats are the only native land mammals in New Zealand. Every other mammal you see, such as possums, rats, mice, stoats, cats, cows, rabbits, deer, hedgehogs, pigs, goats and so on, was introduced after the arrival of humans.

Long-tailed bats have been sighted at Zealandia but not for some years.
