The experience
The exhibition

Join us on an extraordinary journey; from the day before humans arrived; through a century of catastrophic loss; and finally, to the present day, when New Zealanders begin to put our shattered paradise back together.
‘Zealandia: The Exhibition’ is the first facility fully-dedicated to showcasing New Zealand’s unique natural history and world-famous conservation movement.
Big screen
Step back 1,000 years as a beautiful and moving short film tells the story of environmental devastation and recent conservation in New Zealand.
Movie times: 7.5 minutes long. Plays every half hour through the day.
Life size moa and Haast’s eagle
Interact with a life size moa and marvel at the magnificent Haast’s eagle – both now extinct and gone forever. Learn how many more of our native species may be lost to the history books without appropriate conservation work.

Interactives, videos, information panels
Over two floors you will see what was lost and why, then learn about the fragments of our paradise that still remain – and what places like Zealandia are doing to make them whole again.
