SIROCCO: Come face to face with a living legend - SOLD OUT

Sirocco is one of only 129 kākāpō left on the planet and DOC are flying him to Wellington for a special one-month assignment: to charm Wellingtonians and help raise awareness for conservation and the Kakapo Recovery Programme.

Tour description: Evening encounters

There are a limited number of sessions available every evening after dark. You will receive an indoors introduction at our Visitor Centre, including a short film, then head out in to the sanctuary valley to come face to face with the strange and charismatic Sirocco – an encounter to remember!

• Each tour lasts an hour, commencing with an audio visual and guide explanation, lasting about 20 minutes.
• Then you will take a short walk into the sanctuary valley to reach Sirocco’s enclosure.
• Your viewing time with Sirocco will last approximately 25 minutes. Some seating is provided, but be prepared to shift and stand for the some of the time in order to get your best vantage points and also to ensure that everyone gets a good opportunity to see Sirocco.
• It is important to be on time so please be at ZEALANDIA 10-15 minutes before your tour start time.
• Do not bring luggage with you, as there are no lockers provided and all carry in items must be checked before entry into the sanctuary valley.
• Wear warm clothing and bring a rain coat if necessary.
• No flash photography.
• Please check our website the morning before your tour in case of cancellation.
• Please provide a contact phone number in case a last minute cancellation is required.

Member prices: Adult: $29.62 / Child $14.63 / Family*: $73.88 / Under 3s free**
(Adults: 15 yrs+, Child: 3-14 yrs, Family: 2 adults & up to 3 children)
* Children must be accompanied by an adult, at least one adult to three children.
** Under threes must be accompanied by an adult, one adult to one child, and sit on the adult's lap.
It is essential that children behave respectfully to avoid disrupting Sirocco and other tour members. Parents of disruptive children will be asked to leave the tour.
