“Walk & Talk” tours

Join your Ranger Guide at the pontoon for this popular, free and fascinating 45 minute wander and themed talk around the lower valley.  Allow 15 minutes to walk to the pontoon from the entrance.

Zealandia species talks

Our Ranger Guides will help you spot the animals and discuss why they are so special. Talks are free and go ahead rain or shine! Ask for more details at the Visitor Centre (please allow between 15-30 minutes to walk to the talk locations from the entrance).

3:15pm Tuna/Eel talk

These activities are free so the number of participants will vary depending on the number of visitors in the sanctuary. Please be aware that when there is a large group it may not be as easy to hear everything the guide has to say.

Weekend boat rides and Morning Star mine

Take a leisurely scenic boat ride across the lower lake (subject to availability, gold coin donation).
Explore the Morning Star mine to see cave wētā up close! (subject to availability).
