ZEALANDIA: The Exhibition is the first facility fully-dedicated to showcasing New Zealand’s unique natural history and world-famous conservation movement. Join us on an extraordinary journey; from the day before humans arrived; through centuries of catastrophic loss; and finally, to the present day, when New Zealanders begin to put our shattered paradise back together.
As soon as you step through the doors of the exhibition hall it's like arriving on another planet: New Zealand 1,000 years ago. Witness the sudden arrival of humans, and the devastation we wrought, as an extraordinary sound and light show on an 11 metre screen immerses you in the 800 years of environmental destruction that ripped New Zealand’s fragile ecosystems apart.
Upstairs you see the fragments of this paradise that remain, and what places like ZEALANDIA are doing to make them whole again.
Once you've finished exploring the exhibition, grab a coffee or lunch at our cafe, Rata, overlooking the lake then join a guided tour or pick up a map and explore our beautiful sanctuary at your own pace.
Using state-of-the-art interactive exhibits designed by world-renowned exhibition designers Story Inc (creators of the LOTR Exhibition and the NZ Pavilion at the upcoming Shanghai World Expo); and model-makers Izzat Design, ZEALANDIA: The Exhibition is a unique and not-to-be-missed experience.
